Kurt Johnston is a Pennsylvania-born recording artist, producer, singer, songwriter, and versatile multi-instrumentalist. During his remarkable career, he spent ten years working and touring internationally with legendary rock band Bon Jovi. His pedal-steel playing can be heard on Bon Jovi’s acclaimed album Lost Highway.
Kurt has appeared with Bon Jovi and Sugarland on CMT’s Crossroads and at the 2005 CMA Awards. His numerous television appearances include The Today Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, The View, Saturday Night Live, MTV, VH1, CMT Unplugged, A&E, and Clear Channel.
Now residing in Northeast Georgia with his wife, Suzanne, Kurt continues to write, record, produce, and perform. In 2025, they completed a longtime passion project, Life’s a Trip—a unique 30-song concept album inspired by the stories of America’s Mother Road and commemorating 100 years of Route 66.

She went to the doctor because her armpit hurt.
She was 33 years old, a mom of two, and had a family history of breast cancer.
Her doctor wanted to rule it out.
Instead, April got a breast cancer diagnosis.
And that was only the beginning.

April ultimately chose a double mastectomy. Then, when she went to have her chemo port placed, doctors discovered she was pregnant with her third baby.
It wasn’t planned. But her family says sometimes God has bigger plans.
Because April’s cancer was hormone-fed, she needed to start chemotherapy during her second trimester.
Then, at her 20-week anatomy scan, they learned their baby girl had a serious heart condition.
Doctors told them it appeared she had what they described as “half a heart.”
So while April was fighting cancer, her family was also preparing for a baby who would need heart surgery almost immediately after birth.
On November 11, 2019, Ivy Eve Fowler was born.
Two days later, she was transferred to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for her first open-heart surgery.
April was still undergoing chemotherapy while trying to care for her two older daughters. Her husband, a law enforcement officer, and April, a nurse, were also navigating life with a medically fragile baby.
Ivy would eventually undergo two more open-heart surgeries, at 8 months old and again at age 3.
And then, in 2025, something wonderful happened.
Ivy got her wish.
She and her family traveled to Hawaii’s Disney resort, a dream come true for a little girl who absolutely loves sea turtles.
But on the flight home, April started feeling pain.
Doctors ordered a CT scan to rule out a pulmonary embolism.
Instead, they found multiple lesions.
A biopsy confirmed that April’s cancer had returned.
This time, it was stage 4.
Since then, April has endured more chemotherapy and radiation.
And while doing all of that, she has continued working as a nurse on an oncology floor, gone to school to earn her RN and taken care of her family.
She is set to graduate August 6.
Now her family is hoping the community will come out for a car and motorcycle show being held to benefit April and her family.
Because this isn’t just a car show.
It’s a chance to learn April’s story. To meet the family behind it. And to let them know they aren’t walking this road alone.
